Cheryl James (she/her/hers), LISW-S, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a
Master’s in Social Work degree from The Ohio State University and has been working in
the mental health field for the past decade.
Cheryl believes strongly in creating a safe and collaborative space with her clients to
explore their lived experiences in the world. Her therapeutic process begins with forming
a genuine connection with clients and understanding them as a whole individual. She is
passionate about providing client-centered care to individuals who experience
neurodevelopmental differences and enjoys working with caregivers who are managing
multiple responsibilities. She has extensive experience working with individuals
navigating life transitions and identity exploration. She is also well-versed in treating
symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and relationship and family
concerns.
As a therapist, Cheryl employs multiple evidence-based approaches including
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Schema Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her primary goal in treatment is to acknowledge,
validate, encourage and support everyone in making their own space in the world.
